Kerstin Paillard, born in 1977 in Paris, is a Franco-Swedish artist who lives and works between Nice and Stockholm. She draws her inspiration from her dual culture, the history of art, the beauty of nature, the sky and clouds, the light of the north and the colours of the south, as well as from her travels, emotions and dreams.
Fascinated since the beginning by colour and form, she paints abstract landscapes with dry pastel (pigments) on canvas, obtained by applying numerous layers of pigments. Rhythm, harmony and textures are very important in his work. Each painting begins with an image, inspired by a text, a poem, the words of a song, an opera, a quotation.
She has always lived through colour. Every feeling, every note, every word, every thought is a color. Colours are her way of translating and expressing what she hears, sees, smells and feels. She uses dry pastels that she rubs, crumbles, crushes, mixes on the canvas, with her fingers and hands, kneeling on the ground, feeling the textures, creating texture effects, original colors, explosive collisions, where light appears or disappears, opening the doors of an etheric and abstract world. His style is an original and sensitive combination between Abstract Expressionism and Color Field Painting (Helen Frankenthaler, Rothko, Emil Nolde, Degas).
