Every artist is an artist to repair one or more fractures. To express in another language, that of the senses, this relationship in a break with the world. Phil Meyer’s is an emotional one, linked to the female body, as evidenced by the almost obsessive persistence of this theme in his creation. Compulsion that he expresses through sculpture and painting. It represents moments, flashes caused by emotions, sensations. The origin of this Emoi interferes only slightly, only the transcription in the artistic matter counts.
Phil Meyer relies on his drawings of living models and the constant of our society, the relationship to the photographed body. It is tapped in several directions. The color. The black and white. The flatness and the relief. The mixture of figurative and abstract. Gold and copper. Its central theme is expressed in an aesthetic close to post-modernism, Viennese Secession and Street Art. Bodies invade his work. Especially the female body. Constant since the beginning of his reflection. Very often central, unique.
"The true work can only be achieved by being true with oneself. "Thanks to the contemplation of the model and its study and idealization in painting and sculpture, it is a question of admitting that through the language of the senses, this communication does not require words. We only really know a person once they are naked. The habit is social, an indication of a state, an age, a status, a culture. By removing the clothing, by working on a colour other than that of the human being, the barriers fall. Naked, she becomes real. In his emotion. His physical sensations. With nothing to hide from, this flesh really faces what it refers to the artist. And he himself confronts his gaze, his artistic gesture with this true nude.
