Trained primarily in drawing and watercolour, the artist Christophe Forget uses line and watercolour painting in his practice to develop an ever richer research around the fantasy and representation of nature, its immutable, majestic and almost sacred character. Forests, trees, games of light and shade thus compose paintings with soft, calm, soothed looks. Then, learning the technique of engraving and more particularly the monotype, the artist multiplies the interpretations of the vegetable world which imposes itself on him as a subject teeming with surprises, mysteries, and allowing a spontaneous and always renewed experience of drawing, shapes and colours. It is a work that proceeds from erasure, digging into the material, searching for light to better reveal its shadows and shapes. A sheet of cardboard medium is coated with inks, with a roller, it is the first step, then comes the erasure; by removing the material, the drawing takes shape. After a drying time, the substrate is varnished.
