Coming from the National School of Graphic Arts of the rue d’Ulm, Clotilde Nadel created her illustration workshop in the 1980s, working mainly with airbrushes for publishing and art books. After 25 years as an illustrator for advertising and publishing, Clotilde Nadel devotes herself entirely to painting. In this profession, she has kept a precise and realistic touch, which does not prevent a sensitive reverie and a real poetry. Her imagination works on the places she crosses, the images she encounters. From there, she recomposed her own vision. She likes to create situations that combine the secular tradition of certain cultures such as Japan and the reality of the contemporary world... The artist acts like a painter-reporter translating a daily life sublimated by colour and light. As a true city dweller, Clotilde Nadel likes to introduce many characters into her paintings. You need movement in a painting, life," she says. For this exhibition, Clotilde Nadel proposes about twenty paintings representing street scenes in Paris, New York, views of Arcachon and some geishas.
