Elodie Marandon was born in 1989 in Paris, where she currently lives and works. After studying psychology at university, she turned to an artistic course and graduated from the Rhine University of the Arts in 2016 (DNSEP Art). Her work has its roots in her travels, particularly in Asia. It finds a way out of the landscape that would function as a mirror of human emotions. His productions, always on paper, are on the border between painting and drawing. The landscape is the starting point of his work. It allows him to look for reflections of human emotions in forms produced by nature. It is the border, the narrow passage between what we find beautiful and what makes us shiver that she seeks. Through drawing and painting, she tries to overcome her fears. She plays with the ambivalence of her models, between attraction and disgust. If there is a simplicity, a certain appeasement of his work at first sight, something more troubled spreads in a second time. The raw nature of the subject she draws or paints is not her main concern, she even tries to forget it, so that she only focuses on her matter, lines and forms. It is a slow divagation in which she lets herself be carried away. As it progresses, it detaches itself from the image that served as a trigger, and focuses on what happens on the sheet.
