LES ESSARTS LE ROI (78), France
As a self-taught artist, I immediately chose abstraction as a mode of expression because it is the only register that allows me to approach the complexity of the soul and to enjoy a disturbing freedom of creation. Thus are drawn on my canvases improbable spurts, sometimes happy coloured compositions, sometimes dark or dazzling visions! Soulages says: "I believe in works that are invented as they are made, rather than those that are conceived before they are made." This is precisely how my work is spontaneously organized away from the diktats of some great masters of fine arts.
Chantal Darriet has worked almost all her career in the professional and social integration of young people aged 16/25. Painting was not her first approach in art: she first embarked on clay modelling courses that allowed her to study her subjects in 3D.
She then took classes in a workshop with a teacher who did not impose a subject. He passed on his passion for Zao Whu Khi who has not left her since.
- annual exhibition at the Maison du Phare in Quiberon, a mythical exhibition site on the peninsula
