"Through the architect's fault, the art of building has degraded, it has become a graphic art". Loos.

Through his black and white photographs, NiKo invites us into an intriguing, sometimes suffocating, always magnetic geometrical universe. From the highest skyscrapers to the deepest shopping galleries, grey matter spreads. It carries us away and becomes the centrepiece of the vast chessboard that is modern urbanism.

Man contemplates his creation. He wanders, explores, travels through his work, which has become the theatre of his life, because the future is today. This three-dimensional chessboard allows him to move and rise. It gives him access to verticality. The idea of verticality is omnipresent in the "grey matter" series presented by the artist. It structures the image.

It's probably no coincidence that the camera chosen is a Hasselblad, this mythical camera whose square format of shots reinforces the very graphic lines of the compositions. Anchored. Unshakeable. Grey matter rises with aplomb. It carries us, lifts us up to the opening, infinite freedom.

Self-taught.
