Thierry Lefort turned to painting at the age of twelve. In 1997 and 2000, it was Chinese calligraphy in Henan province in China, the cradle of Chinese civilization and kung fu, that led him to a greater purity of line.
From 2006 to 2013, he studied at the Atelier de la Vigne in Etampes under the supervision of the painter Philippe Lejeune, master of the Etampes school.
Since 2011, he has been involved in many artistic fields and also chairs the Subjective Figuration Painting section of the Salon d’Automne in Paris. He is a recognized teacher whose courses at the Académie François Legrand in Paris are well attended. He also leads numerous internships in France, Morocco and Italy. He regularly stays in California to give workshops and develop personal work.
Thierry Lefort has received several awards in Paris and the Paris region, including the Gabriel Zendel Prize from the Taylor Foundation, the Prix de peinture des Amis du Salon d’Automne in 2018, the Prix du Conseil départemental au Salon d’Etampes in 2015, the Prix des Paysagistes français au Grand Palais in 2014. It was also selected for the 2014 Autumn Exhibition to exhibit at the Tokyo National Museum of Modern Art and the Constantine Palace in St Petersburg, Russia.
