For several years, Philippe Ringlet's pictorial and sculptural evolution has led him to practice minimalist abstract expressionism. He works with the narrative form by relying on abstract forms as elementary forms of communication that allow one to move in a free space.

To do this, he uses subjectivity, touch, sensuality, rhythm and colour to arouse emotion. Motives carved in the mass, layers superimposed in glaze, inscriptions inlaid in the material, pure pigments, oxides.... In a way, his painting and sculpture try to touch something timeless and universal. This then creates a strong emotion.

His sculptures are naturally oriented towards raku, a technique combining fire, matter and chemical reactions. Philippe Ringlet claims to be and is mainly inspired by the masters who introduced abstraction and spirituality into contemporary art such as Nicolas de Staël, Cy Twombly, Mark Rothko, etc. He then suggests that any spectator standing in front of his canvases and sculptures tells his own story, his own journey.

Self-taught, Philippe Ringlet has been practicing oil since the early 1980s, forcing himself to go through different techniques and genres: still life, figure, landscape, to arrive today at a more abstract expressionist painting. Painting is taking up more and more space in his life. He multiplies his research, deepens his reflections.

In the spring of 2007, he decided to stop all professional activities (he was CFO of Hermès Watches in Switzerland) to devote himself full-time to his art. He then set up his main workshop in the South of France, and continued to develop his technique towards ever more matter, volume and vibration.

In 2010, Philippe Ringlet began a madly ambitious work on the theme of Chaos à l'Unité... This work being so ambitious (fresco of more than 150 m2) that he pushed him to give up all his galleries. And to help him in his evolution, he called on the advice of Jacques-Sylvain Klein (art historian, general curator of the first Normandy Impressionist Festival) who would become the curator of his exhibition in Rouen. To complete his installation, he began a sculptural work that combines fire with matter, raku in its deepest simplicity.
