Bois le roi (77), France
Scratching, superimposing, spreading, mixing, revealing, are the constituent elements of Victor Blondaz-Gérard's oil work. The origin of these abstract forms comes from the photographic photographs he takes, thus giving him a first dynamic, a first motivation.
Indeed, this photograph is a starting point based on an emotion that will later guide his intentions. Working on the limits of shapes in their irregularities, adding depth to an abstract image makes it more vibrant, more dynamic. Victor Blondaz-Gérard is looking for movement, rhythm and accident.
The structure imposed by the rigour of his will gradually gives way to a carefree attitude. He then uses utensils (brushes, cutter blades, cards, knives...) and his hands, even if it means sometimes hurting them.
Mineral and organic, which combines softness and nervousness, are the first themes addressed in his compositions. His main inspirations are Gerhart Richter, Zao Wou Ki, Andreas Eriksson, Per Kirkeby and Jean Baptiste Besançon.
