Marta Grassi grew up in Uruguay surrounded by painters in a family and social environment where art and creativity play a central role. Interested very early in drawing and painting, she developed in intimacy a singular plastic universe made of disguised characters and magical animals, after studying textile design, the artist settled permanently in Paris where she attended the workshops of the city’s Fine Arts. There, she works long hours on the drawing of the living model and thanks to this exercise she plunges back into the pleasures of her childhood: "Fables", "Série Noire" or "Strabismes" contain the artist’s plural worlds... the line of the drawing, the motifs, the matter, the light and the colour combine, to find the perfect equation of a work that the artist wishes above all "open and poetic".
