Self-taught and with a mainly figurative initiation, Richard Giacobetti takes thousands of photographs during his early years in an attempt to translate the influence of urbanism and architecture on the community.

Later, he spends many hours editing video footage to capture the fascination with the spiral of time and the use that each individual makes of it.

Through a long journey and numerous attempts, the encounter with so-called conceptual art became obvious when a single work produced encompassed everything he had previously tried to express with thousands of photographs and hundreds of hours of video.

A conceptual work is more complex for the viewer to grasp, yet the emotional power it produces on the voyeur may be stronger than the work itself. Notably through the activation of a process of introspection produced by the dynamics of emotions, feelings, imagination and thought. It is this process that Richard Giacobetti tries to activate through his works.
