Ludovic Mercher is a self-taught painter who lives and works in the Vendée. A graduate of the Ecole Supérieure de Gestion in Paris, he began painting in the early 90s but it was in 2004, after experimenting with various materials and techniques, that he reached the desired outline and affirmed his particular, resolutely modern approach. It is during this period that he begins to be supported in galleries in France as well as in Belgium.

Ludovic's painting is at the crossroads of yesterday's and tomorrow's world, the ancestral and the modern. It is a question of finding a balance through the force of the imagination. He uses a deliberately stripped palette with plays on materials: metal, fibre, paper, ink, etc. The painter also uses old papers and sometimes rust to bear witness, through oxidation, to the imprint of time.

"I like to confront geometric and modern lines with landscape, architectural masses with nature. The idea is to make them coexist."
