Kendo was born in Paris in 1979, where he grew up deciphering the tags of his neighborhood. Very young, in the early 90s, he discovered his city and freedom through skateboarding and then tagging, the metro offering him the doors of travel. After college, he moved to Bordeaux and, while supporting a master's degree in visual arts, in the early 2000s co-founded the Collectif "Peinture Fraiche" to meet public and private commissions. The collective thus becomes familiar with the large format and working in public spaces. At the same time, he painted spontaneously and, as much as possible, quenched his thirst for discovering the world, moving to New York or Brazil for a few years. Passionate about calligraphy and abstraction, he will make great encounters in these cities that will refine his style.

During an exhibition in 2005, he was given carte blanche, so he integrated volume into his creations using different mediums. He therefore takes advantage of the enclosed spaces to explore the three-dimensionality of the place and create a personal universe through paintings and installations. In 2011, invited by Les vivres de l'art, with his partners, he gave birth to the “Transfert” exhibition and co-founded the collective of the same name which subsequently took over the former Castéja and Virgin megastore police stations in Bordeaux, accumulating 50,000 then 80,000 visitors in three months. Thanks to 25 years of practice, his instinctive mastery of the letter and his tools give him an ease that is felt in the spontaneity of his gesture, revealing his admiration for his masters: Georges Mathieu, Shu Teh Chun ...

Its goal: to breathe a breath of poetry and life into an often gray and sanitized urbanization. Armed with generous shapes and sparkling and luminous colors, inspired by Brazilian nights, nourished by numerous trips around the world and astronomy, his work transports us to a psychedelic carnival by day and a universe of a thousand reflections when night comes. . Forgetting the physical laws of the real world, his calligraphy then evolves into a work where dreamlike poetry mingles with images of the most distant dreams in an invitation to travel without limits. Bubbles, circles, dynamic letters, boiling paint, drips, tags, splashs and nervous lines form his writings and thus find themselves in a magma where life explodes like a pictorial big bang

An energy that diffuses, matter in expansion, a bubbling magma that explodes, expands on the surface and is organized in jets of colored light, this is what the painter and graffiti artist Kendo shows in a monumental way. on walls than on supports such as canvas. The viewer witnesses an explosion of this energy previously contained in a space that we imagine restricted. The artist captures a moment between the explosion and the total organization of the material. It restores a movement of great dynamism that we feel will spread beyond the painted surface. It is powerful and charged with a dense substance. A profusion of bright and even saturated colors emanate from this phenomenon.

These colors are the reflection of this released energy: it is joyful and beautiful. The choice of this palette is no stranger to a poetic universe bathed in dreams where one believes in things that do not exist. This universe is that of the child attracted by the liveliness of a yellow, a pink or a blue. Basically what Kendo shows us is the activity contained in everything and present since the big bang; a single energy that unfolds in time and space: that of the cosmos. Its representations change, over time, from a gaseous state to a liquid state as if matter tends to come together, one atom meeting another. How to materialize this abstract force? How do you give shape to something that is immaterial and yet is omnipresent? Kendo manages to make it visible and at the same time opens the door to an ordinarily inaccessible universe. It materializes an imaginary world where emotion takes precedence over thought and offers the viewer an escape. The painter and graffiti artist injects great doses of joy, joy and beauty into his works. Feelings intensely felt at the time of creation. The construction of a pictorial surface is done either in the search for a movement around which different elements will be grafted; or by a word or a sentence serving as structure and receiving an ornamentation.

The dynamic visible in his work is also the result of a gesture and a body fully engaged in the act of painting. Astrophysics, the explosive joy of a carnival, the refinement of tribal adornments, as well as the colors of the South American countries and the waves he surfs feed his aesthetics and his questions. What characterizes Kendo and his work is an insatiable appetite, an overwhelming desire to produce surfaces conducive to contemplation and generating intense emotions.
