Yannick Durriez, better known under the pseudonym Matwo is a painter and illustrator.
Passionate about painting and illustration since his youngest age, Yannick undertook studies in the field of graphic design and painting, in renowned Belgian schools such as the St Luc institute as well as the Academy of Fine Arts of Tournai. He works on different supports with different techniques.
His themes are based on the paintings of the great masters such as Rubens, Delacroix or Caravaggio. He revisits some of their works in charcoal, black on white, with reference to Vanity, which reminds us that everything is ephemeral. Sometimes I use colors to develop an imagination around death to give it a less tragic side, a certain black humor but colorful at the same time.
