Mr. Brainwash, his real name Thierry Guetta was born near Paris, in Sarcelles, in 1966. At the age of 15 he moved to Los Angeles. It was in 1999 that he had the click for the world of street art, during a trip to France where he approached his cousin, who is none other than the street artist Parisien Space Invader. Passionate about the video, Thierry Guetta then begins to film all the Graffist's getaway by his side, accompanied by other street artists, such as Shepard Fairey. At that time, the videos are not intended to be shown. He then begins to practice the graffiti in turn and became Mr. Brainwash. His universe consists of a mixture between the stencils of Banksy and the imaging of Andy Warhol. & Nbsp; in 2009, he met British artist Banksy and helps him launch his exhibition Barely Legal in Los Angeles, an event that has aroused the interest of celebrities and art collectors. The two artists then decide to make a documentary on the universe of street artists, so far surrounded by mystery. The images shot before will then be mounted and show invading, Banksy and Mr. Brainwash himself at work. From this collaboration was born the docu-fiction exit through the gift shop (or make the wall!), Nominalized for an Oscar. The film presents the meteoric ascent of Mr. Brainwash on the scene of urban art, and his works sold for astronomical sums, like his portrait of Jim Morrison, sold for $ 100,000, or that of Charlie Chaplin estimated at 50 $ 000. After the success of the film, the works of Mr. Brainwash are becoming more and more popular. But history can also be taken on the contrary. If it has been shown that Mr. Brainwash is not a fictional character, he is indeed mounted from scratch by this film. Fiction has caught up with the real, making Mr. Brainwash a real player in the art market.
