André Gacko

André GACKO is a contemporary art artist born in Dakar in 1991.

His work is focused on resin sculptures and is characterized by a purely contemporary and flamboyant style, reaching a wide audience and all age groups. Arrived in France in Lille in 2009, André is a digital designer at Cartier Joaillerie, he also holds a degree in mechanical engineering.

Intrigued by manual work from a young age and inspired by fictional cartoon characters, he had fun reproducing them with the different materials at his disposal, mainly paper, modeling clay, wire and clay.

André first embarked on a career as a sculptor with creations of crumpled paper animals in 2012, then ventured into resin as the main material for his creations, hence the birth of Gacko Bear. This creation sublimates the nature of a unique character.

The Gacko Bear arouses an emotion of attachment in children and nostalgia in adults.

This concept is essentially an innovative and new presentation of a familiar character for all. This new image appeals more to the mind than to the eyes and emotions of the viewer.

He has exhibited his works in Paris, Bordeaux, Deauville and Lille. He has also participated in the charity work of the Brigitte Bardot Foundation.

"I have always had a strong sense of creativity and sensitivity to art. My experiences and my life were and still are the main trigger for this interest in what surrounds me of nature, animals and all forms of life.

To do this, I combined the multitude of colors that distinguishes the Senegalese culture with the refined and sophisticated French side, making my creations a common thread between Africa and France, allowing everyone to identify with this principle of infinite possibilities. André Gacko
