Samuel Martial is a French artist born in Metz, Lorraine.
Self-taught, he works since 2004 between Paris and Brussels, and collaborates with some galleries as in Paris, Montreuil, Brussels or in Luxembourg.
His works are essentially portraits or bodies worked in a way close to free figuration and art brut. The artists who inspired him are numerous, revisiting his style through Picasso, Dubuffet, Baselitz, but also Basquiat more recently, his works, as for them, remain quite contemporary. Moreover, the artist draws his inspiration from the different cultures of the world: African, Amerindian and South American, which leads to the diversification of the genres of his works.
Samuel Martial uses many techniques in the making of his art such as spray, acrylic paint, collage, grease pencils, silkscreening, stencils... His versatility does not stop there, it is also found on his supports as varied: canvas, wood, Plexiglas, and other objects of everyday life or recovery.
