Through his paintings, artist Vincent Bardou presents us with a vision of his own world. With a unique and audacious style that can be constituted as a mix of Pop Art and Street Art, he paitns subjects such as Che Gevara, Darth Vador, Pablo Picasso, Nelson Mandela and Mickey, each with its own message waiting to be received by the viewer. These messages usually concern a current event or situation or are a tribute to an individual.
Vincent Bardou began drawing at the age of six. From the beginning, he was influenced by the urban environment and its expression. This inspiration led him to perfect his graffiti techniques over the years. After a short career as a designer, he decided to devote his life to painting at the age of twenty five.
Whether it be portraits of individuals in pop culture or great icons, Bardou always treats his subjects with passion and curiosity.
Vincent Bardou’s technique is just as unique as his art: he depicts characters or animals through the use of a stencil, or certain collages that can be seen on city walls, thus making art pass from the street to the canvas. He adds his ultra-coloured touch through the use of spray paint, which creates a striking contrast for the eye. His subjects then appear “glued” to the background.
