François Betting was born in 1961 in Moyeuvre grande (France). Very early on, François Betting had a taste for the plastic arts and enrolled in the painting course at the Maison de la Culture in his city. A few years later his teacher encouraged him to take the competition at the École des Beaux-Arts in Metz. Admitted in 1982, he spent 5 years there. Since 1988, he has been working as a freelancer with a passion for calligraphy, graphics, illustration and scenography, without ever abandoning painting. He participates in numerous group and solo exhibitions in France and abroad.

From 1990 to 2008, he collaborated on numerous scenographic, architectural and artistic projects. Among other things, he carried out the colour study of the Bernard-Marie Koltès theatre in Metz (F), a fresco for the sub-prefecture of Château-Salins (F), several scenographies on Leonardo da Vinci. He collaborates with Charlélie Couture to produce a book of drawings and poems. He also produces numerous illustrations for the theatre. In 1995 the World Trade Center in Metz-Saarbrücken acquired several of his paintings. He also exhibits at the Moselle General Council (F) and the Lorraine Regional Council (F). In 1998 and 1999, he participated in "L’ Art en marche", a cross-border exhibition (Luxembourg, France, Germany).

In 2009, he moved to Brussels, radically deciding to devote himself exclusively to painting. His work alternates between figuration and abstraction. He calls the mind to inner places of reverie. For him, colour is like a pulsation that fertilizes the imagination, vibrating between stripping and euphoria.
