Born in Poland, Hanna SIDOROWICZ studied at the Beaux-Arts in Gdansk before moving to Paris in 1985 where she completed her artistic training in Decorative Arts. It was very quickly supported by key players in the art world such as Pierre Cabanne and Cécile Debray. Over the next twenty years or so, there have been numerous exhibitions in salons (including FIAC in 1990) and galleries (France, United States, England, Denmark, etc.).
"Hanna Sidorowicz’s painting occupies a unique place on the current artistic scene. Strongly influenced by the old masters - Leonardo da Vinci or Rembrandt - and by the great painters of American abstraction, she constructed a work impregnated with blurred or allusive references in which the figure and the elements of an imaginary architecture emerge from calligraphic interlacing or from the trembling and shimmering surfaces of the tempera. His work around the idea of the palimpsest and the fragment, real symptoms of an obsession with pictorial memory, is part of a current interrogation on art and humanism, on the future of painting. This Sidorowiczian universe populated by angels, the faces of wise elders, coloured sketches inspired by the paintings of the great masters of the 20th century, produces a cultivated and refined painting, a kind of visual thought embodied in the coloured matter and the line.
