Using painting as his medium, Marcel Baugier creates canvases with abstract forms and colors. Between formal and colored contrasts, he creates movement, confronting various elements that do not usually go well together.
Born in 1946, Marcel Baugier now lives and works in Barjols, Provence. He studied Fine Arts in Paris and was a certified Arts teacher for 40 years. Since the 1980s, his work has gradually become more and more abstract. In addition, he has had numerous exhibitions in France and abroad.
Marcel Baugier is constantly looking for new color harmonies and combinations of forms.
Jean Vautrin, writer and Goncourt prize winner, describes his work:
"Marcel Baugier paints with carnal colors; he mixes the landscapes of Provence as if he was crafting the very landscapes himself, he is the architect of his vision and clearly adores color; this skilful mixture of rigor and sensuality are the foundations of his craft. He is a bit like the Matisse of abstraction. His artistic maturity has become more and more apparent over the years, and has inevitably led him to continue exploring the wastelands of his past experiments. Always in constant movement, his palette seeks to rest but he, like a gardener, tries to sow new seeds, to trace new structures, to idealize other ways. The spectacle of his new advances always succeed in moving me as much. I love the friend and everyday I never stop discovering more about the painter.“
