Born in 1977, Julien Hayot lives and works in Cannes (Alpes-Maritimes, France). He started with music and musical composition at the age of 17. He has composed different styles of electronic music including trip hop, drum and bass, rock, pop, electro-break and film music. Like a conductor, he created the sound and score of each instrument. He has devoted himself to painting for about ten years and it is by the line, black on white, that he develops his universe. In addition to the graphic parallel between the writing of a score and his pictorial creations, he works essentially on the "body" as a territory, a playful or dreamlike itinerary.
"My pictorial research consists in creating a kind of topography of the human body: drawing a body means going through it, mapping it, following its itinerary, curves, junctions, crossroads, dead ends... I essentially work on the line and the line... a line that I unroll in black on white like an endless ribbon, but that I scatter with stops, free escapes and bush paths. The bodies tell their story, their dreams, their nightmares, in the form of figures-logo, like on the road the signs that call for attention, that signal the unexpected, the living. Each of my works is like an element that contributes to the discovery of a new geography of the body." Julien Hayot
