Giovanni Gorini
Confirmed artist
  • KAZoART artist since 2021
  • 25 works

Born in Lajatico (Pisa) in 1950, he started to paint in 1970. In 1972 he attended the INSTITUTE OF ART and during this period he was influenced by Pollock's painting and gestural art, to give his first "abstract" painting in 1974. Until 1975 he deepened this phase of research to free himself from the traditional "figurative". He then discovered the work of Giuseppe Santomaso, and struck by the poetics and above all by the "relationship with reality" of this artist's work, he met him in Venice in 1976. After this meeting and those that would regularly follow, Gorini's creations took a decisive direction. He prints his first portfolio "Autoscienza-Presenza" with a text by the writer and friend Francesco Paciscopi. He consolidates his "reality/nature" research during two trips, one to Puglia with the painter Alessandro Gamba, and the other to Greece. It was also the time of his first trip to Paris, where he settled in 1979. He participated in several collective exhibitions with a group of Italian artists, and became friends with Riccardo Licata, who taught him mosaic, and Paolo Boni, a painter and engraver, uncle of Mario Boni, an intaglio printer, who introduced him to multicolour engraving. He deepens this research attracted by the different techniques of engraving of the artists who frequent the Boni workshop, in particular Bertrand Dorny. In 1980 he printed his second portfolio "Voyage sans monuments" accompanied by a text by Dino Carlesi (poet and art critic), followed in 1984 by "Terre dimenticate" and in 2002 by " segni della terra". In 1981 he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts of Florence in the painting class of Gustavo Giulietti. For his engraving work he was awarded the medal of the "VILLE de PARIS" in bronze in 1982 and in silver in 1984, and the second prize at the "BIENNALE du XV - Paris" in 2019. He is one of the artists of "MANIFESTAMPE". "Nature and reality as a source of emotion and formal clues. Forms as a construction of space. Space as, as the main plastic manifestation of the conception of reality."
