Labb's work is full of surprises! Largely inspired by nature’s flowers, this artist brings us a very unique universe. Her inks and original graphics exude poetry and above all a playful fantasy easily explored by the observer’s gaze.
Never without her paints
As a young girl, Labb was rarely without her colouring pencils. This strong childhood passion led her to study plastic arts in high school. She continued her studies at an art college, where she obtained a graduate degree in plastic arts from Paris I Sorbonne. After passing the competitive exams to study decorative arts in Paris, she spent four years at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoraifs, before going on to specialise in textile design.
Guided by colour and sketching, Labb also works on a number of complementary activities that extend her creative scope, including tableware collections, hand-painted jewellery, one-off porcelain pieces, original oil and ink paintings, and numerous collaborations under the pseudonym Onze Dixième for prestigious brands including Nespresso, Roland Garros, Nature et Découvertes, Tann’s, Ville de Sceaux, Toulemonde Bochart and La Belle Iloise.
Easily identifiable style and attention to detail
Labb's playful, colourful and graphic fantasy is characterised by the consistent presence of a small eye. Found in different areas of the canvas, it creates an easily identifiable universe. Her work maintains a very "decorative" character thanks to her background in textiles.
Although Labb never produces draft sketches, she has a very well-defined idea of the composition and theme she wishes to tackle. She begins by working on the background in various layers to create a similar effect to watercolour. Next, stronger colours are applied, combined with vegetal elements. Finally, the artist finishes her paintings with a brush, working carefully on every little lump and bump, because above all Labb's work is about detail.
