This work in ink on Chinese paper belongs to the whole of my work developed on the theme of the iris. Working with ink without repentance and without possible backtracking is a work of the moment and suspense. Cut-out openings contribute to the emergence of shapes and allow white values other than those of the original paper, on which the black ink has been applied. This work is sold unframed and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

Arnaud Lorieau’s work (born in 1975) has developed over time in the form of thematic ensembles. For the artist, these are seen as a continuity in the evolution of his practice. They are governed by the design of a permanent questioning in order to access new spaces and new coloured dimensions. today, to paint, the artist uses what he calls his "matrices". They are laminated sheets on which a travel notebook pattern previously photographed with the iPad has been projected using a video projector and then attached by highlighting. In different ways, the paint is then applied to it, then transferred to the canvas support by contact, thus the image of the painting is organized and occurs through impressions of painting by transfer and repetition with a brush and knife. (cf. Big iris, B. Buffet’s dog) This work of postponement also allows the painter to experience surprises and unforeseen events. In this way, the pictorial gesture is questioned at every moment of the painting’s progress.
