Immutable while life abounds, the Roc in Chinese thought is a point of attachment, power and source of fertility.

For some of us, it is the image of a loved one (human or animal), reliable and always present. The play of the line and the intensity of the Indian ink takes the viewer into a parallel world. This work is part of a series entitled "You are my Rock".

It is a work on paper "rice" craft xuan white; hand-mounted on cardboard canvas, signature by two seals; handwritten signature on the back of the work.

Marked by human anatomopathology, Catherine Hoang (CHNB) explores the multiple visions of life and survival. It reflects this vital momentum in stone and wood, sometimes with the addition of other materials. For her, direct (by withdrawal of matter) size (without model) is a time without return where emotions of experience and imagination arise, like painting for some Chinese literate painters.

Then emerge perennial and necessarily unique forms. His creations are often close to those of an allusive abstraction or a symbolic and diverted free figuration for a multiple and abundant interpretation.

"First contact with Catherine’s work. What vital force emerges, as mythical, sexes of stone or wood in the rhythm of the ribs and fractures of materials; copper seams and caresses of polishing, and in this set of devouring or energizing forces, ...desire to caress the materials. Even where the work shines, feel the layers of stone, layers and offences... exchange between the perceived meaning and the source of inspiration, then the slow work of redeciphering the works.

Going beyond appearances, evidence, letting this arm that embraces us resonate or is it a tentacle that devours? Be touched, and decide to use words to sculpt my emotions without smoothing anything, without building. Just to thank you for the experience lived in this workshop where I want to come back to see and hear the work born from the block. " - Claudine Guittet, Director of the artistic company Vue sur scène, France
