Cyrille Borgnet proposes a very particular use of concrete. His work focuses on the treatment of materials that can be described as industrial, urban (concrete, bitumen). He uses them on a traditional support (linen canvas on a frame) and in so-called "natural" compositions (landscapes). From these apparent oppositions he plays to mix matter and transparency, roughness and sophistication. In its very wide formats, the mortar (or cement) is neither brushed nor smoothed, but mixed with natural coloured pigments, rust and grey green.

In these latest creations, the urban landscapes, made of energy and thick matter, let the light of a rusty sun explode and reveal a vegetation nourished by hydrochloric acid. All his works, carried by the mortar its strength, its relief, its resistance, suggest the fault, the accident, the crack that open the eyes and bring the imagination.
