"In 2021 photojournalist Mehmet Alsan is awarded for a photo taken in April in Hatay province on the Turkish-Syrian border, specifically in the district of Reyhanlı, which depicts a moment of happiness between a father and his son" (source: huffingtonpost).
It shows a man, Munzir, playing smilingly with his child Mustafa by taking him in his arms and throwing him in the air.
The man and his son bear the scars of the Syrian conflict. The child, born without lower limbs, shares a precious moment of complicity with his father who is missing a leg lost during a bombing.
The image of Mehmet Alsan met in my cartography of imagination that of Aylan Kurdi.
Drawing is also about bringing together imaginary worlds and giving strength to the elements of our current situation. Here, dancing in the rain, sharing a moment of love while being under the bombs.

Julie Balsaux is one of those people who only stand up for themselves because they keep moving forward, acting and inventing, and first and foremost their lives, every day, as if they were under the immediate threat of bottomless despair. Because they have to launch a paper plane against the absurdity of the world, and the world is heavy, it is always a question of tearing themselves off the ground, of creating the momentum of a jump that we would like to last infinitely long. So we are somewhere between the energy of the gesture and the slow movement of the clouds. Drawing, installation, writing, sound proposals, each piece is an attempt to talk about the world while escaping it. Each idea opens with a challenge, the confrontation with manufacturing, the pleasure of a technical and artisanal implementation, and the desire that this manipulation disappears in a joyful and yet derisory jubilation / Jean Cristofol 2012.
