According to another version of the myth of Pandora, Zeus offers a jar containing the evils of the world to Pandora, created by the gods, to take revenge on men. Only the apprehension does not escape, while the evils spread over the human world.

In this translation humanity would only suffer from the evils, and not from the apprehension of these evils, thus allowing hope.

Favelas is originally the name of Brazilian slums. Between 2005 and 2022 Paris saw the growth of shantytowns under its intramural bridges with a landscape of canvas and cardboard.

Under the orders of many European countries, the military and the police, like Pandora - created by the Gods of Olympus - find themselves inflicting the same sentence on humans in exile by taking away their dignity.

But, if hope is free, these same humans in exile, no matter what the Gods do, will always be there not waiting for death but always going towards life.

Pandora in a military salute, smiles.

Julie Balsaux is one of those people who only stand up for themselves because they keep moving forward, acting and inventing, and first and foremost their lives, every day, as if they were under the immediate threat of bottomless despair. Because they have to launch a paper plane against the absurdity of the world, and the world is heavy, it is always a question of tearing themselves off the ground, of creating the momentum of a jump that we would like to last infinitely long. So we are somewhere between the energy of the gesture and the slow movement of the clouds. Drawing, installation, writing, sound proposals, each piece is an attempt to talk about the world while escaping it. Each idea opens with a challenge, the confrontation with manufacturing, the pleasure of a technical and artisanal implementation, and the desire that this manipulation disappears in a joyful and yet derisory jubilation / Jean Cristofol 2012.
