Since 2007, Franck Le Boulicaut, multidisciplinary artist, reconnects with his old love: painting. This light-loving creative, trained with Eric Bari, Marc Folly and Jean-Claude Chaillou, tries to approach the universe of his many models in his own way: Cézanne, Le Caravaggio, Sargent, Freud ...

A game of balance between composition and freedom of movement

Painted alla prima, his paintings, now figurative, testify to a rigor in the balance of the compositions - masses, placements, colors - and a taste displayed for a certain freedom in the touch.

"Both in the choice of the subject and in that of its staging, I strive above all to express an emotion, whether it is purely visual through the play of values, colors, framing or whether it is evocative through a pose, a look ... I pay particular attention to the composition of the painting upstream: lines of force, proportions, values, format ... ".

Forget everything to succeed in painting

Influenced by some of the work of Betty Edwards (cf. his work "Drawing with the right brain"), Franck Le Boulicaut has been painting his paintings upside down since 2013. Particularly effective for portraits, this method makes it possible to free oneself from any subjectivity induced by what one "knows" about the subject by refocusing the painter's attention on only directions, values and colors.

His original technique was the subject of an article in number 128 of the journal "Pratique des Arts" (May / June 2016).
