Graphite mine, pigment, natural wax, mouldy paper then stamped on BFK Rives 300gr
paper. Pigment is the pure color in powder form. It is fixed on the paper with natural wax. The drawing is coloured with the finger. The brushes would not allow this direct relationship to colour
. The lighter central part is a paper that I have often made mouldy for many years because I find the textures and materials of these papers so degraded very interesting.
BFK Rives paper is a paper used in engraving for its high stability even though it can remain in the water for several hours without suffering any deterioration. The edges of the paper are hand fringed.
This series was created for an exhibition in Avignon during a work on Christian Bobin’s book Une petite robe de fête and more particularly La Vie souterraine from which the texts are extracted and borrowed or sometimes as here just a few scattered words.

Lucile Travert

40 fans

Lauris en Luberon (84), France

56 works

For more than 35 years, including the years of training (Fine Arts in Lyon, Decorative Arts Villa Arson Nice, Doctorate Arts Plastiques Sorbonne Paris) it is to painting that Lucile Travert has dedicated her life and work.

She acquired the skills of the profession of painting, drawing, engraving at the same time as she enriched her artistic knowledge by exploring the history of art through the prisms of literature, music, philosophy, poetry, architecture, photography, sculpture...

The question of the body, of the figure, is for her the fundamental question. She conducts research inspired by the major works of the great masters of painting such as Rembrandt, Caravaggio, Leonardo da Vinci, Rubens, Titian but also contemporaries such as Cy Twombly, Bacon, Giacometti, Alechinsky, Garouste, Anselm Kieffer... His daily work continues within the stone walls of his studio, a historic setting in the heart of the courtyard of Château de Lauris, a Luberon village nestled on a rocky spur overlooking the Durance plain in Provence.

For 20 years, Lucile Travert has regularly presented her work to an informed public at exhibitions in both emblematic and prestigious places (Abbey, Chapel, Art Centre, Galleries). She also likes to meet new eyes and make her painting accessible to everyone.
