Francis Gonnet has been painting for over 40 years. Coming from a family of painters over several generations, some of them by profession (G LAMBERT Musée de Sèvres), he was cradled by art from his childhood, soaking up many exhibitions.

"I was sensitive to the impressionists. I am very attracted to the Cubist period from Braque to Picasso. I like Kandinsky’s painting, the shapes and colours of F Leger’s Delaunay, not to mention the abstraction of N by Staël and P Klee. I like to structure my paintings with a certain geometry, I am inspired by shapes and curves of characters and musical instruments but also trees and high houses by their verticality.

I mainly use paper supports sometimes canvases. I structure the painting with a dry point drawing, then I use a mixed technique starting with ink, then colour with gouache or acrylic to add gels that can give a certain shine."
