Algae Variations #02 is a drawing made with black technical marker, paint and chalk. The background is worked with inks on an absorbent paper. The result is a digital transformation called "in negative". Algae Variations is a series of several drawings that combine a plastic and a digital technique. An exploration of materials that I have named the "Negatives". The final work is a pigment print (308 gr art paper) that highlights the original plasticity. If the aesthetics of the Negatives may seem different from my drawings on paper and wood with black ink, fauna and flora remain the main subjects. The various references and inspirations of the Negatives are also attached to those of botanical plates and to the cabinets of curiosities, ancestor of the museum of natural history where one gathered since the Renaissance the wonders of the world, cultural and natural. The prints are sold framed, under glass, in order to preserve them (exhibition frame).

Clémentine Vauchelet is a visual artist and textile designer who lives and works in Seine-et-Marne. She holds a Master's degree in Image and Living Arts from the Pantheon-Sorbonne University and a BTS in Fashion Design.

Her graphic compositions are poetic spaces where the artist's imagination wishes to express itself in a free movement, in close connection with nature. Although her drawings made of points, lines and curves are meticulous, their realizations banish the sketch made beforehand and the observed model. Bodies of a fantastic fauna and flora, the subjects of his creations are like an embryo that unfolds. They invade various surfaces such as paper, wood, or even shells. Inspired since childhood by Hayao Miyazaki's animated films, by the terrestrial and marine fauna and flora discovered during her travels in Guadeloupe, remembered with her child's eyes, but also by micro-organisms and the bacterial world, Clementine makes nature her main, primordial and committed subject.

Her creations, in various mediums and techniques, reveal a universe imbued with poetry where through the metamorphoses of nature the artist puts at the heart of her work the concept of survival.
