Annie Vandemalle studied architecture in Lille, in the north of France, where she was born. Then, after graduation, she participated in the courses given at the Van der Kelen Higher Institute of Painting in Brussels in 2000. After living 8 years in a Buddhist centre in the heart of Savoy where she made the traditional three-year retreat, she then enrolled at the Avignon Heritage School and graduated in September 2014.
"Through all these stages of formation, art has always been present in my universe and I have always drawn or created... Today I feel the need to explore a new universe in terms of creation and especially to show. I remember that phrase that my retreat master said one day when he came to visit us in the meditation centre: "Immensity is to space what eternity is to time".
My main motivation? To let oneself be in the creative process.... Let the energies we receive from "nowhere else" or "I don’t know where" penetrate and, thanks to our body and our power of realization, materialize them on paper, canvas or any other support, being in this immense opening that is eternity."
