I paid great attention to the lighting, which had to remain sober but bright. The composition includes three planes, starting with the sky, which is already a first focus of interest in itself. However, here its main function is to highlight the architecture of the palace, the second plane of the composition and the centre of gravity of the pastel. And the third plane is represented by the vegetation and trees, part of which, on the right, is brightly lit by light.
The pastel was made on a special paper with a very abrasive surface, a little similar to sandpaper used in carpentry, and which has the effect of hanging and retaining the pastel powder. This special pastel paper is the Art Spectrum." Alain Voinot
