"L3 - (she)" - Pastel and ink on paper - 2019 A wandering of 9 pieces numbered from (a) to (i).The theme is developed in the collection "être là" composed of 14 large-format oils on canvas. This suite is part of the "Bal(L)ades" collection "Bal(L)ades", ballade comme promenade and ballad comme poésie", a collection that brings together a set of small-format short suites composed of 6 to 14 pieces, which will be produced from 2007 to 2019. Blin uses pastel in pure colour and continues the ink writing we know (writings - diptychs - urbanity (ies)) with a variation: the frame and the overframe create the narrative distance, exploring the confrontation of the present and the past....] But this narration is not limited to telling a linear "story", it is deeper, it is at the heart of the process and of what it shows. The very interiority of the work is narrative, the reading (that is what it is all about) through the play of colour, graphics and frames takes us into a poetic emotion where the periods are always confronted: historical times, seasons or particular moments of the day. ...] (texts by Maria Klaus, from the official website)

Nicolas Blin (1955) Plastic painter narrator. Lives and works in Pontoise - France Graduate of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris, exhibitions and collections in France, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, Japan, USA.

"From the beginning, Nicolas Blin’s work has focused on the discursive paths of narrative where space and time expand or stretch, to deliver an invented or lived narrative. Each work or series of works, using different techniques, becomes the imprint of a chosen moment, erased, suspended or hidden. In fact, the appearance of the story or its memory is a recurrence in Nicolas Blin’s works, which establish concentric circles, always and differently telling a story, intimate and daily, poetic and musical, staged or danced. His first works, entitled Récits I and II (1984, 1990), opened the artist’s incessant questioning of the history of representation, which extends the field of figuration to abstract worlds of a reproduction of reality itself, and which is in keeping with the tradition of the text-image concept, currently revisited by many artists. According to offbeat framings, a taste for detail, a nuanced palette of colours and a synthetic formal play, Nicolas Blin proposes plastic narratives whose anonymous, familiar and intimate spaces create a personal universe."
