The history of virility is apprehended by cultural history, in particular the history of the body and its representations. The feeling of virility has historically been built on physical strength, then courage, warrior heroism, and finally sexual power. To be considered as such, a man "must" be strong and virile in the true sense of the word. With STRONG, alinalalala once again tackles the question of image linked to the cult of physical appearance, but this time from the male point of view. Bravery, courage, intelligence and strength to carry out a project are the prerogative of the Greats, but not in the true sense of the word.
Work of 30 x 40 cm, framed 40 x 50 cm with white passe-partout: oak wood frame, thick, light and unbreakable acrylic glass. Since oak is a living being, each frame is unique. Pastel on paper; varnished and signed lower right.
STRONG is part of the DRAW ME A LINE series which is characterized by a pastel line, a simple message and a lot of second degree, through poetry or sarcasm. Alinalalala plays with themes, words and the medium, passing on his ideas and convictions, just like a child would. Children's drawings are authentic, touching and amusing; charged with a striking lucidity. This is what Alina is looking for through these drawings: to let the little girl in her express herself, so that the big one never gets bored... She aspires to bring emotion to the viewer, by capturing his or her attention and bringing him or her to question, reflect, or simply make him or her smile.
