Artist living in the south of France, Michel Castanier has been painting since the age of 20. Self-taught, he has practiced Oil, gouache, watercolour and sculpture. Currently, he works with acrylic on 300g paper, cut out and mounted in 3D in a white frame.
The full, the empty and the cast shadow each play a role in the 3D composition, to the point of creating a stylized figurative art made of human bodies and faces.
Michel Castanier is a member of the "Les Peintres & Sculpteurs de Saint-Tropez" association, Honorary President of the "Les Peintres de Grimaud" association. Many works are currently in French & foreign collections (USA; Canada; Great Britain; Belgium; Switzerland; Italy; Egypt; Australia).
