Born in 1987 and originally from the Côte d’Opale (Pas-de-Calais), Maxime Foulon works mainly with acrylic and Indian ink. The artist seeks, above all, to challenge the spectator. His inspiration comes from those around him, from injustices and inequalities. At the heart of the subject is the Man, who is exposed. His shortcomings are denounced in the works of double reading. The artist thus develops a vibrant aesthetic, reflecting on who we are... Maxime Foulon was very quickly attracted by the image and its emotional and narrative power. As a child, he was inspired by Gustave Doré’s engravings illustrating "Les Fables de la Fontaine". His first drawings were directly inspired by it. His work is difficult to classify. Expressiveness, figuralism, "unfinished" and conceptual, the images he creates are always meaningful. His artistic style is very graphic. He particularly works on the layout, dynamism and incisiveness for a greater efficiency of his works. After a light pencil, the artist uses ink, brush or pen. He always leaves meticulous space for the "accidental" side in his creation; a splash, a burr, a run-out... Thus, more vibrations and life emerge from the work.
