After studying applied arts, Benjamin Receveur turned to graphic arts without stopping painting and drawing. He uses different media, including oil painting and was introduced to engraving in Lebanon.
Through his drawings, engravings and paintings, Benjamin Receveur proposes a rich and particular universe that the spectator can appropriate. Very attached to the accuracy of the line, its spontaneity and sincerity, he uses a palette of colors that is his own.
Benjamin Receveur's pictorial expression can be broken down into two parts. A first abstract approach that evokes landscapes. The second, figurative, are bodies or objects on neutral backgrounds. The subjects are isolated, extracted from their environment to better highlight their attitudes, presences. In his way of working, Benjamin Receveur feels the need to move from figuration to abstraction in order to express himself.
