The medium is Indian ink and calligraphic brush on Thai paper mounted on Canson.

"In all my series of drawings what interests me is the movement of the body. It even fits in with my work where I have an engagement with the body. I always work standing and I work a lot with models who are dancers and who don't pose, so I have to capture the movement. I also use technical means, the brush and the ink, which allows me to have a fast movement and fluid enough to have a continuous line."

Under the peaceful foliage of the Chevreuse valley, in Ile de France, Marie Taklanti, creates a world out of time. An original work, which refers to movement, calligraphy and baroque.

Man constitutes the essential figure of his artistic expression. For her, “bodies are one”. Caught between the group's attention and the need to extricate themselves from it, they are in search of themselves. The bodies emerge from gravity, in free escapes, but in interdependence with other individuals and in connection with society. Individuals who cannot cope with the instability of the world. The representation of individuals fades in favor of the expression of a movement that they do not control. The compositions are stripped of context and intentionally timeless, but the ambiguity of the titles brings up a notion of geological or climatic phenomenon.

"My approach expresses man’s quest for individualism and his incessant need to come together, since always around myths, beliefs and territories, the hippie movement of the 70s, ecologists or current alternatives. "

In the series of drawings, the rapid gesture, as fluid as possible, seeks to form a single whole. An unbroken line describes countless arabesques as a mysterious thread that connects beings with a secret tie. The Japanese brush ink on Thai paper betrays a fascination with the calligraphy of the drawing, done freehand: “The medium is for me as important as the thing represented. This is both what has been seen and clean writing. ” The line of movement in the wash is only there to accentuate the rhythm. It contributes to the overall atmosphere, with a baroque tone more tormented than flamboyant, imbued with both intensity and sobriety.

Marie Taklanti has exhibited in numerous salons and galleries in France.
