Young artist, Julien Sama uses mainly painting and drawing as a means of experimentation and expression. His main areas of research are science, mainly astrophysics and biology, but also philosophy, history, literature and spirituality.
"Through my art, I try to share my "quest for freedom" in a social and visual context where hyperconnectedness and control are dominant. Through a conceptualization of space and time, I propose to put into abyss repeated patterns in different works, so that a visual extension of my perceptions of the world is effective. In the manner of a "borderless universe" expressed by cosmologist Stephen Hawking, I explore the absence of boundaries and seek to go beyond the edges and limits of my images." Julien Sama
This quest for space is illustrated as much by the presence of the stars (sun, moon, desert, space stations) as by games of fusion and transformation of painted subjects. Decuplicating a motif, distorting and complexifying it to better lose oneself in it, becomes a curious and captivating game for the spectator, a sort of fantastic journey to the heart of an almost parallel world. Inhabited by references as much pictorial as philosophical or scientific... He then opens the doors of a world that he describes as "sensitive, both childlike and mature". Unceasingly, the visuals come to reactivate motives of the history of the art, the architecture, but also of the mass culture or the information, while elaborating new landscapes, impregnated of light and vivacity:
All these images serve the ambition of a cosmogony of an inner world, with its own codes, laws and archetypes. Finally, he does not want his art to remain hermetic, while he has always chosen titles that function as windows to our sensitive world.
