Born in Brittany into a family of artists, Alice Roy uses all the materials at her disposal from a very young age. A jack-of-all-trades, she mixes mediums and artistic styles in search of her own visual identity.
Creative curiosity
Alice Roy uses many techniques: dry pastel, engraving, gouache painting, oil painting... In all styles: children’s illustrations, abstract... To finally find her pictorial identity. Her scenes from everyday life, animated or not by pretty silhouettes, catch us by their surprising tranquility.
The common thread of her works: calm and serenity
Her love for acrylic painting and her home by the sea became her two main sources of inspiration. A timeless seaside resort from the XIXth Century conjures peace of mind, calmness, holidays and a certain « joie de vivre ».
Alice Roy's paintings are thought provoking and graphic. As a guiding thread, each composition utilizes a low-angled light effect which comes to purify its subject: everyday life. A soothing atmosphere that further cements the artists raw skill and technique.
