Geneviève Penloup

Born n 1962 in Loire-Atlantique, Geneviève Penloup, tape colorist and Decorator of Dress-Animé (under the name of Gratien) stops the B.D in 2006 to devote herself to painting. In Auvergne, she discovers a wild territory with extraordinary, exotic and fascinating forests. Also concerned with our ease of managing trees and forests despite their proven importance. They have imposed themselves in its paintings becoming imaginary landscapes in motion free from the figurative. Its artistic approach plays on the epidermal relationship of forests on humans. First habitat, protective, nourishing but also dangerous, it is an older biotope than humans. She likes to imagine the countless detours and hiding places of the painting as a mirror of the multiple corners of our unconscious. His artistic practice is influenced by the Nabis, the symbolists, the B.D, the cartoon. Technically for the first step, she uses plant tools chosen in the forest and then follows a job with pencils and brushes to tell a wonderful or cruel story, her story, your story. His constant concern for the movement gives birth to a living, inhabited and mysterious, attractive or disturbing nature. To lose, dream, to be afraid of the noise, frights, blows to the heart, to hide, to wait ... and to find the Light are the emotions sought.
