Born in Bordeaux in 1971, Denis grew up in the southwest, which will remain his country for life. It was between the moors and the Arcachon basin that he evolved for more than 30 years and then lived as a Parisian executive. But like many others, the Garonne, the basin and the iodine of the oysters from here flow through her veins... Hypersensitive, he takes time to understand how to use his emotions until the day he starts painting at the age of 30. He understands that he is an "artist" at the age of 45. His artistic ambition is to feel free, to create, and to share. Enjoy yourself. He is convinced that art is nothing, or rather that painting is "a minor art", within everyone’s reach, no initiation to create, especially not to appreciate. A painting is simply intended to decorate... the definition of beauty is very relative, but if the image pleases, the main objective is achieved. If the emotion is there then it’s even better. With a certain sense of image, aesthetics, blends, colours and contrasts, the framing is done intuitively. He paints in acrylic on canvas, wood, cardboard. His basic artistic knowledge will be done late in the Parisian museums. He is very impressed by some exhibitions, Hopper, Lichtenstein, Gauguin, Émile Bernard, Zonders, Keith haring, Hergé... Denis starts with a pop art style very inspired by the great classics of the 60s and then evolves towards more figurative, often personal, subjects. His favourite subjects, the Arcachon basin, the ocean, the characters, the scenes of life, surfing. His painting is rather rigorous, colour or monochrome, realistic. Back in Bordeaux for good in September 2018, he settles down to paint at the "Chiffonne rit", a shared associative space.
