"I started with the left part that I called "Divine Comedy" and I extended it with the right part that I called "Shoe to his foot". The initial idea for this painting came to me when I put side by side a sculpture photo of Marilyn and a sculpture photo of a Christ. Curiously, I found a great similarity between the position of Marilyn's legs and the position of Christ's legs on the cross! First of all on a plastic level: the movement of the legs. Then on a symbolic level: Marilyn and Christ, two icons, two martyrs, victims of having been worshipped, adored. A question then came to me: what if Christ had been a woman? Marilyn on the cross with Christ's legs. All that was missing were the boots, a little outrageous, plastic accessories of doll models, giving a little transformist look to Marilyn. Echoing it, a smooth, faceless mannequin, with feminine attributes, placed on its base, also wearing plastic boots. In front, a damaged, dishevelled model doll, frantically looking for a shoe at her feet, victim of the consumer society. But is she looking for a pair of shoes or the ideal man? The man, good of himself, seems happy with himself, but he is very small." - Flo Jaouen

As a child, Flo Jaouen remembers seeing many painting exhibitions, such as Chagal, Dufy, Klimt, Chardin... with her mother, who was herself passionate. From 9 to 15 years old, she studied modelling and drawing in the workshops of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. At 17, she decided that she would be a painter. After graduating from the Beaux-Arts, on the fringes of painting, Flo worked as a computer graphics designer for several years. His painting, initially abstract, inspired by urban architecture (buildings under demolition, construction sites, vacant lots), has become figurative and human-oriented over the years, and more and more realistic. His main artistic influences have been, among others: Rembrandt, Velasquez, Goya, Honoré Daumier, Kandinsky, Miro, Picasso, Crémonini, Bacon, Garouste... and many contemporary artists. The artist is interested in the duality of beings, being and appearing, the image we give of ourselves and the way we look at others. She tries to show what is beyond appearances. Each of his works tells a story. She stages characters (real people but also representations of living beings such as statues, dolls, figurines) that she takes out of their initial context. She invents a story for them alongside other characters in order to establish links, connections in parallel universes that shake up the codes. The realism of his works is built on a critical language, the questioning of a humanity. Flo tries to infuse her paintings with the energy of life.
