"Laura Zimmermann, a young artist born in 1986, practices painting without compromise. Her compositions use commonplace elements of popular iconography of our time, which she treats in a nervous and fast gesture, pretending to be a clumsy, quickly made, sloppy work, like street art. It thus diverts and exalts insignificant images by giving them a universal dimension, inspiring, according to the series, anxiety and discomfort, tenderness and empathy. An incessant game of violence and seduction... It can indeed represent children playing with weapons of war (series La violence ordinaire), smiling toddlers, in more conventional attitudes (series The Kidz) or holidaymakers posing as a souvenir photograph (series N’oublie pas de rentrer)."
