Acrylic on canvas with a brush, train, railway, etc. This painting represents a locomotive of the 1936s, designed by Raymond Loewey, French industrial designer and graphic designer, who became Franco-American after his naturalization, the facture of this canvas is very removed in order to avoid the illustrative side and to remain in a pictorial representation of character with a brush. The blacks and greys used in this work are entirely created from the primary colours, without the addition of black from the current trade, in order to give depth, light and a particular density to all dark areas.

For the past twenty years or so, Jérôme Poumès has devoted himself to pictorial expression in various forms and techniques, but more particularly to acrylic on canvas with a knife. With an academic background, his painting has taken several directions, ranging from figurative to abstract or even to a certain form of expressionism.

The universe he offers is very energetic through his compositions, his exuberant workmanship as well as his particularly contrasting and richly nuanced tonalities. The sources of inspiration are history, human feelings and emotions, mythology, the urban environment or the beauty of nature, to name but a few examples.

Her works draw their essence from her own experience and personal emotions. Above all, he remains an "artist-researcher", an explorer, always in search of unexplored creative lands. The desire to move from the 2D to the 3D universe is undoubtedly the result of the fascination that has always been felt towards the impact of light on the object, thus creating volume.

This quest for power that characterizes his work on canvas is perpetuated through the meticulously chosen, shaped, hammered and patinated shapes of these steel pieces.

Jérôme Poumès regularly exhibits in France as well as abroad, such as at the SARRIA International Exhibition in Spain in 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017 and at TOKYO since 2013.
