Revisiting the work of Edvard Munch. The original work is entitled "Skrik", "scream" in Norwegian. The artist had produced five works on the same theme, with the same title. Paxal has been working on the third version. We can commonly think that the cry is made by the central character. That's not the case. An excerpt from the diary that the tormented artist kept is quoted, we can decipher it right next to his right arm: "I felt an infinite scream passing through the universe tearing nature apart." It is indeed the surrounding nature that screams and frightens the character. In the abundance of sibylline beings that make up the background, reminders are recognizable: the cover of King Crimson's record, the character from the film Scream, that of Zardoz, that of The Wall.

From a very young age, Paxal has been passionate about drawing, making his imagination speak for itself on paper and in various media and entering the School of Fine Arts at the age of 15. Working for a period in advertising and then publishing, he never stopped devoting himself to his passion, to devote himself completely to it with appetite and compulsion.

It's all in the details. The subject discussed is only a pretext, a snippet of the secret message contained in the work. It is itself a support. To detect the true interest, we must allow all the details that compose or accompany the motif to be slowly revealed to our eyes. As in the proverb of the wise man who shows the moon, here the subject is only an index, there is only to draw the eye to what comes next, a profusion of subtle, sometimes funny, often mystical elements, which express feelings, which reveal and develop the story.

Jerome Bosch, Arcimboldo, Dali, Clovis Trouille, tattoo, comic strip, Aztec graphics, etc. These are all sources of inspiration that can be thought of when you let yourself be lost in your images.
